About

Caamora Norway

Caamora Norway

Hurum Progrock Society (HPS) was founded in 2009. The idea behind founding this musical society developed for two main purposes that still apply; arranging club meetings where the primary goal is to watch the selected music DVDs as well as listen to the CDs of the month, in addition to traveling as a group to selected musical festivals and concerts. As it happened, a delegation from HPS was in Cheltenham in the UK in 2015 to watch Clive Nolan’s two musicals, “She” and “Alchemy”. During breakfast on the second day, Clive Nolan, Morten Clason and Ingar Diskerud agreed to pave the way for a performance of Alchemy in Norway. Several soloists were contacted, plans were made and time data worked out, etc.

In February 2016, Clive Nolan came to Klokkarstua, Norway, for a weekend visit to further seal the deal. He met up with most of the soloists, checked out the room selected for the rehearsals, as well as presenting his new musical, “King’s Ransom” in front of a captive HPS/Caamora Norway audience. Some of the soloists were fortunate enough to be able to sing their part together with Clive Nolan. Since that weekend, a formal Caamora Norway has been established, as well as a separate home-and Facebook page. So far, there have been two joint rehearsals for the soloists, all in the month of April.

In October 2016, three fund raising concerts will be held featuring Clive Nolan along with one of his “leading ladies”, Gemma Louise Edwards. In collaboration with the Norwegian soloists; Eirikur Hauksson, Elisabeth Syrdahl Ellingsen and Harriet Müller-Tyl, they will perform a variety of their selected numbers from “Alchemy”. These concerts will be arranged as follows; 7 October at Slettevold Gård, Mysen; 8 October at Buckley’s Pub, Oslo, and 9 October at Sætre Kulturhus, Sætre in Hurum.

Rehearsals, both singlehandedly and with the backing band, The Windmill, will be an ongoing process throughout this autumn, winter and spring of 2016/2017, and planned concerts 2017 are 21 May in Hurum, 27 May at Mysen Fort, in addition to a relatively reduced concert at Halden Prison.
